Hobby Update - 05/30/2017

A little update, took a bit of a break from the hobby to get real life stuff outta the way. Gonna post more when I get back into the swing of things.

Ordered more miniatures for Bolt Action and Warmachine.

Base coated German infantry with rust-oleum camo dark forest green spray. The spray is close enough to German fieldgrey from vallejo, should make it easier. When the order comes in I'm going to build more squads of infantry with submachine guns

Going to start painting my Retribution force again, went ahead and primed models. Still need to finish paining houseguard infantry, myrmidons, and casters.

Also bought more paints from reaper's master series. The bronze color that I got a month ago sold me to the line and I picked up more of their metallics.

D&D wise I still need to paint more creatures namely the giant, some zombies, abominations, and some rhino men.

Lastly, looking into getting the airbrush out of storage and actually use it.

More to come 😜

Flames of War: Update 2

Quick Update
Finished assembling the Panzer IV's from Plastic Soldier Company. The quality from PSC is great but since I don't have any tanks from Battlefront I cannot compare the two at the moment. Compared to Point of Contact in terms of build quality, PSC trails ahead.

Picture of Panzer IV's without shurzen armor, thinking about using them as Mid-War F2's for the time being because my local game group is using FoW V4. Also in picture are the Tiger I E's from Point of Contact, for how much I paid for them ($15 shipped) I am quite happy with them.

Now to prime the infantry and the tanks.
Thanks for looking, more to come!

Update: More D&D Stuff

So its after the D&D session last weekend, there wasn't enough time to finish the campaign so I continued painting more mini's for D&D.

First up we have some more Player Characters:
From left to right: Wizard/Elementalist/Sorcerer, Ranger, Monk

More PC's:
Dual Wield Fighter and Paladin

Thanks for looking, more to come.

Getting ready for a D&D campaign!

I don't just do wargames, I also do D&D. I DM for a small group of friends I have that are interested. This campaign we explore a dungeon that elements of Fire, Earth, Water, etc. play a key role on.

Here are some pictures of the models I plan to use:

and some that I already painted for the session.

Flames of War Update 1

Quick Update:
Based the contents of the Wargames Factory box set based on what I needed for my V3 list. So far I'm satisfied with my the models although some parts like the barrels of the guns are quite thin and can bend or break off easily. Luckily I haven't had one break on me.

I also test painted one and I'm happy with the result.

Hobby on a budget. Flames of War.

Gone are the days where I'd spend hundreds of dollars on a starter set and/or a starter faction box if I wanted to delve into a new game. With my budget for gaming becoming less and less I just have concentrate on the games I already have. But still, there are times where I really want to start something new, a new game I see, or a ruleset that piqued my interest. So I just set out on a quest to find the cheapest way to get into the game.

Enter Flames of War, I've been interested in this game for the longest time but never had the funds to really commit to it. Imagine my excitement when they released a new version if the rules and offered free rules for early and late war. Next up was the actual models. Since WWII cant be trademarked there are a lot of manufacturers which means prices are competitive. I browsed eBay and was able to buy all I need to start.

My first purchase was a 15mm Late War German Infantry Box Set from Wargames Factory. I've read online about the complaints people had with this product being too skinny or small compared to battlefronts but it didn't really bother me. If anything they don't look as cartooney as battlefronts plus I got it for $11.55 which is a steal for 80+ models.

Second purchase I went for was a box of 5 Panzer IV's from Plastic Soldier Company $21.99 shipped.

Lastly, after some thought I decided on making a Schwere Panzerkompanie and happen to come across a box of 5 Tigers for $15 shipped. Its from a company or product line called Point of Contact, now the only thing I can say about the actual product is.. for what it is and the price I got it for, it was an okay purchase. The tanks themselves needed TLC but I'm happy with the results.
Total spent on getting miniatures:
$11.55
$21.99
$15.00
---------
$48.54 - Not bad for a 1500pt army.
Progress reports will be listed within the coming days. Stay tuned for more, and again thanks for reading!
